OTPa Freight System Action Plan

OnTrackPennsylvania represents a shift—from discussing the need for coordinated transportation planning—to actually designing, committing to, and implementing an optimal freight transportation Action Plan. This Action Plan will be built the only way it can for a plan this important to work—by those needed to implement the plan collaborating alongside all those who are affected by it, i.e. transportation providers, shippers, developers, planners, suppliers, funders, and citizens.

Mission

The mission of OnTrackAmerica is to maximize the contribution of North American rail transportation to:

The efficiency and productivity of our entire transportation system
The vitality of businesses that deliver or receive transportation-related services
The sustainability of land and energy resources
The equitable participation of employees in industry success
The quality of life in our communities

OnTrackAmerica partners with the railroad industry and its associations, and the larger community of suppliers, investors, developers, legislators, and planners. These stakeholders include freight and passenger railroad owners and operators, railroad labor, shippers, capital markets representatives, lenders, government officials, environmental interest groups, and other community leaders.

Objective

OnTrackAmerica facilitates stakeholders in multifaceted, integrative thinking and implementation that allows the private and public sectors to effectively collaborate in the delivery of transportation systems that serve more of our economic and social needs.

Beyond lobbying, beyond advocacy, beyond consulting, and beyond business as usual there is a better method for integrating commercial activity and related public policy. OnTrackAmerica's objective is to advance that method.

Defining and quantifying this objective will be accomplished collectively by participants in OnTrackAmerica's North American Rail Transportation Summit.
